Description

American military pilot (1929-1977) who attained worldwide notoriety in 1960 when the U-2 spy plane he was piloting was shot down over the Soviet Union. Powers was killed in 1977 when the news helicopter he was flying ran out of fuel and crashed a few miles from the airport. Uncommon 5.5 x 4 clipped magazine photo of a U-2 spy plane in flight, signed in black felt tip, "Francis Gary Powers." Affixed to a same-size mount and in fine condition, with some faint foxing.
