Fantastic vintage 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo of Owens competing in the long jump in the 1936 Summer Olympics, signed later in black ink, "My best wishes, Jesse Owens, 36 Olympics." Reverse bears an August 14, 1936, Berlin Olympics postal cancellation. In fine condition, with light silvering to the darker areas of the image. Owens wowed the world in Berlin, taking home gold medals in the men's 100 meters sprint, 200 meters sprint, long jump, and 4 × 100 meter relay. He was the most successful athlete at the Games and, as a black man, was credited with 'single-handedly crushing Hitler's myth of Aryan supremacy.' Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
