Iconic 4.5 x 5.75 albumen photo of the white-bearded bard wearing a hat with his head gently resting in an open hand, signed in bold ink, "Walt Whitman, born May 31, 1819." This portrait was originally captured in Brooklyn in September 1872 by G. F. E. Pearsall, and it was used as the frontispiece for his 1876 book Two Rivulets. In very good condition, with trimmed edges, silvering and staining, heavy overall wrinkling, and a repaired tear to the left side. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
