Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “George R.,” one page, 13.5 x 9.25, June 15, 1809. King George II appoints William Adams as a "Surgeon to our Forces." Signed in the upper left by King George, and countersigned below by Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool, as Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. Upper right corner retains the original paper seal. In fine condition, with light soiling to the vellum, and skipping to the signature. By this time the king had begun to go blind and suffer from mental illness, thus his rather erratic signature.
