King of Sweden and Norway from 1818 to 1844; born Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, he was appointed as a Marshal of France by Napoleon Bonaparte after a long military career before becoming king (1763-1844). LS in Swedish, signed “Carl Johan,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 8 x 13, no date. Untranslated document signed at the conclusion by Bernadotte as King Charles XIV John of Sweden. In very good to fine condition, with seal missing from last page with remnants of black wax, small edge splits to folds, and a mounting remnant to last page.
