King of Sweden from 1569 until his death in 1592, remembered for his attempts to close the gap between the newly established Lutheran Church of Sweden and the Catholic Church; he is also remembered for his conflict with his half-brother King Eric XIV, who he deposed and murder. Exceedingly rare ink signature, "Johannes R.S.,” on an off-white 3.75 x 3.25 slip, annotated along the bottom in ink in another hand, "1582 Johannes Rex Sven." Affixed to a larger 7.5 x 5 sheet, with his embossed royal seal affixed below. In fine condition, with some light scattered foxing.
