Original sketch of a cartoon rat by Edie Sedgwick, unsigned, no date, accomplished in graphite on an off-white 9 x 12 sheet of sketching paper. The cartoon depicts a large bipedal cowboy rodent wearing a gun belt and a wide-brimmed hat and holding playing cards, with two bottles of liquor next to his boots. In fine condition. Sedgwick’s childhood on the ranch instilled in her a great love for animals of all sizes, with mice, rats, and raccoons being no exception. An atypically playful sketch from Sedgwick, whose ability to draw 'lifelike' rodents is on clear display with Lot 8026.
