German physician and naturalist (1780-1860) who gave renowned lectures on fringe science (such as animal magnetism, clairvoyance, and dreams), whose masterpiece, Symbolism of Dreams (1814), was one of the most famous books of its time, and later exercised influence over Sigmund Freud and C. G. Jung. ALS in German, signed “G. H. Schubert,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 9 x 11.25, January 15, 1857. Lengthy untranslated handwritten letter by the notable German scientist.
