World War II-dated TLS, one page, 5 x 7.75, July 24, 1944. Letter to Reg Eatmell, in full: "I'm sorry to inform you that the United States Army does not permit the distribution of photographs of its officers. We hope you continue to find enjoyment in our musical efforts." In fine condition.
In 1942, Miller volunteered to join the U.S. military to entertain troops during World War II, ending up with the U.S. Army Air Forces. On December 15, 1944, while flying to Paris, Miller's aircraft disappeared in bad weather over the English Channel. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Miller went missing less than five months after writing this letter.
