French military commander (1653-1734) who was an illustrious general of King Louis XIV, celebrated for his victories in the War of the Spanish Succession. He became one of only six Marshals to have been promoted Marshal General of France. Scarce LS in French, signed “Villars,” one page both sides, 6.75 x 8.75, March 7, 1733. Untranslated letter on matters of commerce. In fine condition, with a paperclip impression to the top edge.
