Marshal of France (1804-1872) who supported Napoleon III in his coup d'état and commanded a division at the siege of Sebastopol during the Crimean War. He was later made commanding general of the French expeditionary corps to Mexico in 1862, where he succeeded in capturing Puebla and established a triumvirate to govern Mexico for Emperor Maximilian. ALS in French, signed “Forey,” one page both sides, 5.25 x 8.25, December 30, 1855. Untranslated handwritten letter by Forey. In fine condition.
