Rare original self-portrait sketch by Jimi Hendrix, depicting himself in stick figure form, sweating with a guitar strapped to his waist, accomplished in black felt tip on an off-white 4 x 4.25 sheet of notebook paper that is signed neatly below, “Jimi Hendrix.” The sketch is likewise affixed to a 5.25 x 8.25 backing sheet. Interestingly, Hendrix has drawn himself playing guitar right handed, but the distinctive curly hair can be clearly discerned as his own. In fine condition. The consignor notes that the sketch was drawn at the Stadhalle in Offenbach, Germany, on May 18, 1967, when Hendrix was at the venue to perform on a television and radio show called ‘Beat Beat Beat.’
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, and by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, which reads: “I obtained it 1967 in the town hall of Offenbach/Germany near Frankfurt. From there our local radio and TV station ‘Hessischer Rundfunk’ broadcasted a series of concert called “Beat Beat Beat.’”
