Description

Beautiful set of Queen autographs obtained during their first tour of America as a headliner

Vintage autograph album, measuring 10 x 3.25 open, signed inside on adjacent album pages in attractive red felt tip by the full Queen lineup—Roger Taylor, who adds “Queen” in bubble letters, Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, and Brian May. In fine condition.

Accompanied by a color 3.5 x 4.25 Polaroid photo of the original recipient posing with John Deacon at the Beverly Hilton pool on March 27, 1975, where Queen were staying for three days while gearing up for two very important concerts at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on March 29th while on their first headline tour of the United States during their Sheer Heart Attack tour. This lot also comes with a letter of provenance, which reads: “My family and I were on holiday in Beverly Hills staying at the Hilton hotel. On Thursday 27 March 1975 whilst at the pool area I noticed the band Queen….I was a huge fan and as you see from the photo I supplied, of myself and John Deacon, put on my Queen T-shirt as soon as I saw them. They each signed the autograph book and Roger Taylor did the QUEEN symbol/art above his name. I then had my photo taken with the now reclusive John Deacon by the pool. It was a short but sweet encounter."

An except from a review from a local newspaper of Queen’s dazzling breakout Santa Monica concert: 'Looking at this concert in comparison to others I’d seen in the States brought home to me just how good Queen really are live. No wonder that both audiences (early and late show) demanded an encore and got it. When Freddie came back to do Big Spender there was a roar of approval—not a little of which was for the very fetching silk shorts he was sporting. Somehow they made his cavortions more aggressive than ever and the audience just couldn’t get enough. Eventually it was over. Freddie was left almost speechless and the others were exhausted. But they went back to their hotel secure in their knowledge that LA had fallen to them too—and the next time they would play the might Forum where they’d seen Led Zeppelin earlier in the week."
