Swedish engineer, physicist, aeronaut and polar explorer who died while leading an attempt to reach the Geographic North Pole by hydrogen balloon (1854-1897). ALS signed “S. A. Andree,” one page, 5.25 x 8.25, March 23, 1896. Handwritten letter from Stockholm regarding a publication, in full: "I see no way to prevent the publicity spoken of. A daily paper in Sweden is already intitled to each publication and I suppose that some foreign daily paper will get the same rights. A circular is here inclosed. The drawing in graphic is false and extremely stupid. My photograph you can get in London at Elliot and Fry, Baker Street." In fine condition, with a few light creases.
