British Conservative statesman (1848-1930) who served as prime minister from 1902 to 1905; his Balfour Declaration, issued in 1917, established a national home in Palestine for the Jewish people. Scarce vintage matte-finish 3.5 x 5.25 photo of Balfour in a suit and tie by Vandyk of London, affixed to its original 7.5 x 9.5 mount, signed on the mount in fountain pen, "Arthur James Balfour, 1919." In fine condition, with scattered light foxing, heaviest to the bottom on the mount.
