Prominent and sometimes controversial American clergyman, orator, and abolitionist (1813-1887) who was the brother of Uncle Tom's Cabin author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Rare and important partly-printed DS, signed “H. W. Beecher,” one page, 12.25 x 7.75, December 23, 1880. Stock certificate for 21 shares in the Northern Pacific Railroad Company issued to Henry Ward Beecher, endorsed on the reverse by Beecher to transfer the shares. Also signed by a relative, H. B. Beecher, as a witness. The original receipt remains attached to the left edge. Also includes the associated receipt for certificate no. B5090 and a printed form requesting delivery of said stock, both signed by Henry Ward Beecher ("H. W. Beecher" and "Henry Ward Beecher"). In fine condition.
