Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Delaware (1734-1817) who later served as a Revolutionary War officer, president of the Continental Congress, and governor of Pennsylvania. Vellum manuscript DS, signed “Tho's McKean,” one page, 20 x 12, January 15, 1801. As governor of Pennsylvania, McKean grants William Gough of the City of Philadelphia a "certain Tract of Land, called 'Iron Hill' situated on the waters of Wyaloosing Creek…Containing Three hundred one Acres." Signed in the upper left by Governor McKean and countersigned at the conclusion by James Trimble as deputy secretary. The seal affixed to the upper left remains intact. Also endorsed on the reverse by Timothy Matlack, the engrosser of the Declaration of Independence. In fine condition.
