ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 6.25, September 17, 1929. Addressed from Franconia, New Hampshire, a handwritten letter to "Mr. Park," in full: "By telegram in answer to yours I am accepting with pleasure your invitation to read or lecture for you at Wheaton on October 19th. By letter I can go a little into my reasons for not having tended to this matter sooner. I purposely put myself out of reach up here in the summer just to see if something won't come of it. This year I have been more evasive than usual: I have run away from home to a second place and then off sideways to still a third. For some time I haven't known what letters were arrived at me. You must forgive me. I haven't meant to be impolitely unresponsive. It will be a great pleasure to me to visit Wheaton and meet you in your new office." In fine condition.
