Flown 5.25 x 3 flag commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, carried aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia during the STS-65 mission from June 8-23, 1994. Affixed to its original color 11 x 14 printed certificate, which reads: "Presented to Nancy Gunter. This Apollo 11 25th anniversary flag was flown aboard the Orbiter 'Columbia' STS-65, July 8-23, 1994 in commemoration of America's first Lunar Landing Mission." In very good to fine condition, with creasing and tears to the cardboard mount, in no way affecting the flag itself.
Nancy Louise Gunter (1940-2016) worked at NASA's Kennedy Space Center from 1964 to 2005. She began her tenure in the secretary pool and was soon assigned to Walter Kapyran, the Apollo Launch Director at Kennedy Space Center. She was promoted to lead the Astronaut Office at KSC, holding this position for many years prior to transferring to Facilities.
