Description

Nickname “Mister”— a questionnaire filled out by “Fred McFeely Rogers”

Two items signed by Fred Rogers: an ALS and a questionnaire that Rogers has filled out for an unpublished ‘Celebrity Yearbook.’ The handwritten letter, one page, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood letterhead, January 17, 1978, in full: “Thank you, Jon Allan, for your thoughtful letter. I wish you well with your project. It will be fun to see it when it’s completed. Somehow I felt very serious in my responses to your questions. I sense that you and Mrs. Allan are very accepting of all attitudes.” Rogers fills out the questionnaire in ballpoint, and answers the following fields: Name “Fred McFeely Rogers,” Nickname “Mister,” Date of Birth “March 20, 1928,” Favorite Song “It’s a Beautiful Day In This Neighborhood,” Favorite Pastime “Reading / listening to children,” Favorite Expression “‘I will not leave you comfortless,’” Greatest Hero “Jesus of Nazareth,” Greatest Dislike “People who depreciate others,” and Ambition “To be a healthy resource for growing families. That some word that is heard in the work that I do be intimately associated with the healing Ward of God.” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a promo photo bearing a preprinted autograph.
