Stunning original painting of the iconic Canadarm during a Space Shuttle mission, accomplished in acrylic on a 17 x 20 sheet of artist paper, signed below in pencil by the artist and countersigned on the right in black felt tip by noted Canadian politician and pioneer astronaut Marc Garneau, who adds "Reach for the stars! First Canadian in Space!" The artwork is nicely matted with a FDC for "The Canada Space Program," featuring a color cachet of the above offered painting, postmarked on March 15, 1985, signed in various ink types by the first six Canadian astronauts: Roberta Bondar, Marc Garneau, Steve MacLean, Ken Money, Robert Thirsk, and Bjarni Tryggvason. Framed together to an overall size of 26.25 x 34.25. In very fine condition. A magnificent homage to the intrepid space-explorers of Canada.
