Description

British-Canadian physical chemist (1922-2021) who, whilst working on X-ray crystallography at the University of Cambridge, was influential in the elucidation of the structure of DNA, solving the structures of the purines, adenine, and guanine. Her depiction of intramolecular hydrogen bonds in adenine crystals was central to Watson and Crick's elucidation of the double helical structure of DNA. Original sketch of DNA replication by June Lindsey, who draws the two base-pair complementary chains of the DNA molecule on an off-white 8.5 x 11 sheet, adding the names of four nucleobases to the left and adding below: "Structure of DNA, Solved by Francis Crick & James Watson in the Cavendish Lab" and "Crystal structures of adenine & guanine, solved by June M. Broadhead between 1946 & 1949 in the Cavendish Lab, Cambridge." In very fine condition.
