Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany, Irish writer and dramatist (1878-1957) notable for his work, mostly in fantasy, published under the name Lord Dunsany. LS signed "Dunsany," one page, 4.5 x 7, Dunstall Priory, Shoreham Nr. Sevenoaks letterhead, July 27, 1933. Letter to W. W. Jackson, in full: "I have written the book about which you enquire, but it is not yet published. Heinemanns will bring it out in October." In fine condition. The work in question is likely Lord Dunsany's 1933 novel The Curse of the Wise Woman, which was in fact published by William Heinemann in that year. The book received excellent reviews on its release, and was chosen by John Masefield to receive the Harmsworth Award for the best work of imaginative prose by an Irish author. The Dunsany scholar Darrell Schweitzer considered it his finest novel.
