British botanist (1761-1842) who was a founding fellow of the Linnean Society, remembered for his sumptuously illustrated folio edition 'A Description of the Genus Pinus,' issued in several parts from 1803-1824, detailing all of the conifers then known. ALS signed "A. B. Lambert," one page both sides, 4.75 x 7.25, no date. Handwritten letter to fellow botanist John Lindley, in part: "I have the pleasure to inform you the Canna Iridiflora will be in flower…in a day or two as my Gardener writes me word…I will let you know the moment it arrives & if you will come I will not open the box till you are present when you might take the specimen but no time must be lost as the flower will soon decay." In very good to fine condition, with some minor edge losses and small holes along the left edge, evidently from once being bound into a larger volume.
