Austro-Hungarian diplomat (1841-1916) who served as ambassador to Germany from 1892 to 1914. In the prelude to World War I, he famously participated in the conversations in which Kaiser Wilhelm II pledged Germany's 'full support' for an Austro-Hungarian attack on Serbia after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Two TLSs in German, both signed "Szogyeny," each one page, 8.5 x 11, dated June 9 and December 16, 1909. Two untranslated letters to journalist Fritz von Briesen, writer and editor-in-chief for the "Hamburger Neuesten Nachrichten [Hamburg Latest News]." In very good to fine condition, with partial edge splits to central horizontal folds. Accompanied by one original mailing envelope.
