Diplomat and composer (1847-1921) of Imperial Germany who achieved considerable influence as the closest friend of Wilhelm II. He infamously fell from power in 1907 due to the Harden-Eulenburg affair, in which he was accused of homosexuality. The Eulenburg affair led to one of the first major public discussions of homosexuality in Germany, comparable to the trial of Oscar Wilde in England. ALS in German, signed "P. Eulenberg," one page both sides, 7.75 x 11, September 26, 1897. Untranslated handwritten letter, boldly penned by Philipp, Prince of Eulenburg. In fine condition, with intersecting folds and minor edge chipping.
