Description

American aviator and commercial astronaut (born 1939) who holds the record for the oldest woman to travel to space. Funk is also the first female air safety investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board, the first female civilian flight instructor at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and the first female Federal Aviation Agency inspector, as well as one of the Mercury 13, a group of thirteen American women who successfully underwent the same physiological screening tests as had the astronauts selected by NASA for Project Mercury. Color satin-finish 10 x 8 photo of Jeff Bezos and Wally Funk arriving for a press conference after flying into space in the Blue Origin New Shepard rocket on July 20, 2021, signed in silver ink, "[heart] to you, Wally," who adds a smiley face. In fine condition, with a small crease to the top edge.
