Scarce TLS, one page, 5.5 x 8.25, Golf Hotel Guadalmina letterhead (San Pedro de Alcántara, Spain), September 14, 1966. Unusual letter from the disgraced Cuban dictator, written while in exile, in full: "Your letter of August 8th. inst. was sent to me from Lisbon, while we were in a short vacation through the south of Spain, together with our children, who gave us a remarkable joy in June, at the end of their last quarterly studies, in which they reached the best qualifications. Your nice words impressed me deeply. I share most of your thoughts and it is a pity that, as you say, morality is giving way to legality all over the world. About the fellow you refer to, that kind of distorted mind do not disturb me. I am sure that the harm this poor guy pretends to do on me will reverse back to him. God may forgive that crook. I can only but forget such a specimen. Be happy, and thanks a lot for your kind remembrances. Abrazos." In fine condition. Letters from Batista are decidedly rare, especially those written while in exile.
