French actor, dramatist, essayist, and revolutionary (1749-1796) who, as a member of the Committee of Public Safety during the Reign of Terror, administered the execution of more than 2,000 people in the city of Lyon; however, he spared Madame Tussaud from the guillotine. Partly-printed DS in French, signed "Collot-d'Herbois," one page, 7.75 x 12.5, 1793. An untranslated extract from the Register of Orders of the Public Safety Committee of the National Convention, signed neatly at the conclusion by Jean-Marie Collot d'Herbois. In fine condition, with scattered foxing.
