African-American politician (1841-1898) who represented Mississippi as a Republican in the US Senate. Partly-printed DS, signed "B. K. Bruce," one page, 3.5 x 8.5, October 4, 1890. Deed for a transaction between Charles H. Brice and Frederick C. Herring, signed on the docketing panel by Bruce as recorder of deeds. In very good to fine condition, with some light soiling and staining. Encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA as "NM-MT 8."
