Disc memory featuring serial ports on the base, measuring 6" x 6.5" x 3.25", designed for use with the Autonetic VERDAN (Versatile Digital Analyzer) general purpose military computer. A small, worn tag on the top reads: "Magnetic Memory, Part No. 55290-301, Ser No. -039." This type of memory had a number of different applications including use on early target drones, Polaris submarines, and in the X-15 hypersonic rocket-powered aircraft program.
