Description

German chemist (1803-1873) regarded as one of the greatest chemistry teachers of all time, and also known as the 'father of the fertilizer industry' for his discovery of nitrogen as an essential plant nutrient. Three items: an untranslated ALS in German, signed "Liebig," one page, 5.75 x 9, April 21, 1869; and untranslated ANS in German, signed "Liebig," on both sides of one of his personal 4.25 x 2.5 calling cards; and the title page from his 1853 publication of 'Ueber eine neue Methode zur Bestimmung von Kochsalz und Harnstoff im Harn,' inscribed at the top by Liebig. In very good to fine condition, with some general creasing, soiling, and wrinkling, and a paperclip impression to the top of the letter.
