German politician (1842-1912) who rose to State Secretary of the Foreign Office of the German Empire, building economic ties with the Ottoman Empire and serving as a delegate to the Second Peace Conference in The Hague in 1907. Uncommon 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Adolf Marschall von Bieberstein by Theodor Prumm of Berlin, boldly signed at the bottom of the image in ink. In fine condition, with light pencil notations to the mount.
