American soldier (1839-1925) remembered as the only man to serve as an officer in the Civil War, Indian Wars, and Spanish-American War; he is also known for the capture of Geronimo, and received the Medal of Honor for his gallantry at Chancellorsville during the Civil War. ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.75 x 7.75, May 26, 1922. Handwritten letter to Col. W. A. Graham, in part: "I have to say that I have been quite ill and could not attend to my correspondence. If you will telephone me what time you can come over, I will be very glad to see you and can then return your interesting abstract." In very good to fine condition, with splitting and staining along the hinge.
