Description

"He has distinguished himself in independently designing sound equipment for recording and reproducing sound-on-film"

Prolific American inventor (1873-1961) often referred to as 'the father of radio' for his pioneering work in wireless telegraphy. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Lee De Forest Laboratories letterhead, June 5, 1941. A letter of recommendation for Verne T. Braman, who worked at De Forest Phonofilm and General Talking Picture from September 1928 to July 1930, in part: "He showed unusual originality in design of studio and electronic equipment, and conducted his work with remarkably clear intelligence. He was conscientious and faithful in the discharge of his duties, and was in every way a most desirable employee. Since leaving that employment, he has distinguished himself in independently designing sound equipment for recording and reproducing sound-on-film; and particularly in the design and construction of new types of glow lamps, for which he built up a large and profitable market, mostly international." In fine condition.
