Appealing color 19.5 x 15 salesman's sample of a calendar for January 1934 entitled 'He Fought the Good Fight-He Finished the Course,' which features artwork of William Fulton Soare's 1931 painting 'Farewell to New York' depicting George Washington tipping his tricorne from aboard a vessel during patriotic harbor celebrations. The print is matted and prepared by the Thos. D. Murphy Co., of Red Oak, Iowa, with the lower portion bearing a small embossed flap covering the miniature calendar. The matting is secured by string to the original publisher's mount. In fine condition, with a light surface loss to right of mat.
