Description

Austrian surgeon and amateur musician (1829-1894) who is regarded as the founding father of modern abdominal surgery; as a musician, he was a close friend and confidant of Johannes Brahms, and one of the first to attempt a scientific analysis of musicality. ALS in German, signed “Dr. Th. Billroth,” one page, 5.25 x 7.5, Sanatorium Dr. Anton Loew letterhead, February 8, 1897. Untranslated handwritten letter by Billroth. In fine condition, with trimmed top and bottom edges, and a rusty paperclip impression to the top.
