Revolutionary War general and, later, treasurer of Connecticut (1743-1818). Partly-printed DS, signed “J. Huntington,” one page, 6.25 x 7.25, February 8, 1790. Pay order from the Treasury Office of Connecticut, which certifies that "Capt. Paine Converse has lodged in this Office the following Notes, viz. Army Notes…leaving the sum of 12.9.1 1/2…which he is entitled to receive Certificates in pursuance to an Act of the General Assembly passed in May 1789." Signed at the conclusion by Jedediah Huntington, and countersigned by Peter Colt, grandfather of the famous Connecticut inventor and firearms developer, Samuel Colt. In fine condition.
