American politician (1839-1902) who earned the moniker 'Czar Reed' for his shrewd, aggressive tactics as Speaker of the House in the 1890s. Uncommon 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Reed by C. M. Bell, signed in ink, "Thomas B. Reed." Annotated below by a collector, "13/8/93." In very good to fine condition, with a skinned back.
