Official French-language participation diploma issued for the Paris 1924 Summer Olympics and presented to American fencer Alfred Walker, 19.25 x 24.5, which reads (translated): "Diploma, Awarded to M. Walker, Alfred, participated in the fencing tournament." The diploma features artwork by Bernard Naudin, which depicts the winged goddess of Victory between athletes and columns decorated with winners’ wreaths. Lower portion bears facsimile signatures of French Committee President Graf Justinien de Clary and IOC President Pierre de Coubertin. Framed to a slightly larger size. In very good to fine condition, with some scattered creases and surface scuffs and abrasions, which do not detract from the otherwise attractive presentation. Alfred Walker (1901-1983) competed in the team foil event.
