Exceedingly rare vintage circa 1955 glossy 8 x 10 Sun Records promotional photo of a young Johnny Cash, signed in bold blue ink, "Yours, Johnny Cash.” In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from JSA. To find an original 1955 Sun Recording Artist photo, signed so beautifully by Cash at the onset of his storied career is, indeed, a rare find. A museum-quality piece of 'The Man in Black.'
Beginning in late 1954, Johnny Cash recorded with Sun Records in the Sun Recording Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, and that continued until his move to Columbia Records in mid-1958. Sun Records continued to release recordings by Cash until 1964 from the material amassed during Cash’s time at Sun. It was at Sun Records on December 4, 1956, that Elvis Presley dropped by while Carl Perkins was in the studio with Jerry Lee Lewis cutting tracks. Cash also happened to be in the studio that day and the four gathered together for an impromptu recording session together. The recordings from this pop-up session would later be released under the apt title, Million Dollar Quartet. Both Cash and Elvis went on to realize success in their careers if not in very different ways. Today, Cash is one of the top-ranking Country artists of all time, and one of the most beloved. Cash was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980, and in 1992, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame afforded him the same honor.
