Description

Signed at the onset of the legendary band’s first U.S. tour

Stunning vintage glossy 10 x 8 U.S. promotional photo of The Who, an image captured by photographer Chris Morphet during a live taping of the BBC TV program Top of the Pops on September 21, 1966, signed in blue felt tip by Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon and John Entwistle. The band’s name appears along the lower border, along with the contact information for The Who’s management company, New Action, Ltd., founded by co-managers Kit Lambert and Christopher Stamp. Also included is the contact information for New York-based Premier Talent Associates, Inc. (PTA), the legendary talent agency responsible for booking many large acts of the day, including Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and The Who. In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.

PTA booked The Who for many of their historic performances across the U.S., from the Fillmore Auditorium and the Monterey Pop Festival to Woodstock. In fact, a facsimile of The Who’s 1969 contract with PTA to play Woodstock was included in early pressings of ‘Live at Leeds.' The signatures were obtained at the onset of The Who’s first proper U.S. tour in June 1967 by Timothy D. Kehr, an American record producer and concert promoter. Promotional photographs signed by all four original members of The Who are exceedingly scarce, with very few surfacing to date. This is unquestionably one of the finest examples we have seen.
