LS in French, signed “Augereau,” one page, 9.5 x 15.5, impressive official letterhead with large engraved vignette letterhead, October 21, 1797. Interesting letter responding to unrest across the Rhine, in part (translated): "I will give orders so that the assassins and devastators perceive that the time for murders and looting has passed, and that it is not under my command that they will be renewed with impunity." In fine condition, with a few small stains to edges.
