Description

Two-term U.S. Representative (1816-1906) who later became a multimillionaire financier, credited with originating the system of 'puts and calls' in the buying and selling of stock. Two ALSs, each one page, 7.75 x 5, October 8 and 13, 1856. Responding to letters from M. D. Phillips, Sage replies that he has sent "2 bundles of my speech containing 125…one bundle of Majority Report of the Kansas Committee" and that he has "forwarded to your address the speech and Kansas report." Both affixed at the edge to larger sheets and in fine condition.
