Italian gem-engraver, medallist and coin engraver (1783-1855) who rose to prominence as chief engraver at the Royal Mint, and is probably best known for his Saint George and the Dragon design for the British sovereign coin, and for his thirty years' work on the Waterloo Medal. ALS in Italian, signed “B. Pistrucci,” one page, 4.5 x 7, May 20, 1848. Untranslated handwritten letter by the noted engraver. In fine condition.
