Eminent Scottish geologist and writer (1835-1924). Two ALSs signed "Arch. Geikie," totaling three pages on two sheets, January 19, 1866, and June 1, 1874. The first, in part: "Two octavo sheets will much more than suffice for my paper. The cuts absolutely necessary are only two or three in number and being only simple diagrams would cost but little." The second, in part: "By Professor Balfour's request I send you herewith notes of a conjoint paper sent by him and myself at the Botanical Society…for insertion in the Gardeners Chronicle. He says that you kindly allow him a few separate copies. Might I ask for some also. The proof should be sent to Dr. Balfour." In overall fine condition, with rusty circular paperclip impressions to the top.
