Silent film star, director, producer, and screenwriter (1882-1924). Vintage pearl-finish 7.5 x 9.5 portrait of Thomas H. Ince in a handsome bust-length pose, nicely signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To L. C. Hull, with all good wishes n’everything, Thos. H. Ince.” In fine condition, with a few small creases touching his hair, and light silvering to the darker areas of the image. Although his death was announced to be of natural causes, rumors of foul play were widely circulated, with many claiming that William Randolph Hearst accidentally shot and killed Ince during a party on board his yacht. Given Ince’s importance in Hollywood history and unusual early death, his autographic material is both very collectible and extremely rare—only the fifth Ince-signed item we have ever offered.
