Notable French composer of ballets and operas (1836-1891). ALS in French, one page both sides, 4.5 x 3.5, no date. Handwritten letter to painter and lithographer Jules Cheret, who created the sumptuous sets for 'Sylvia,' as well as posters for 'Sylvia' and 'Coppélia.' In part (translated): "You’re spoiling me! Upon my return to Paris I’m delighted to see Sylvia on your posters. Unfortunately I won’t be able to go and hear us [Delibes underlines twice]; I have to be at the Conservatory at the same time for the Prix Rossini auditions." In fine condition.
