Hand-annotated letter draft as first lady, one page, 6.25 x 9.5, White House letterhead, February 25, 1986. Draft of a letter to Leslee 'Honey' Alexander, the wife of Tennessee Governor Lamar Alexander. Reagan crosses out the formal greeting and replaces it with "Honey," and makes extensive revisions to the first paragraph in blue felt tip (indicated by parentheses in the transcript). In full: "(You were wonderful as the hostess) of the Governors' Spouses luncheon on Monday, and for making the event so very enjoyable. (Your idea of making it a working luncheon was great—and you carried it off with such grace). As always, I am so happy to talk to those who share my concern for the fight against drug and alcohol abuse, and who have so many positive suggestions of ways to implement new ideas." In very fine condition.
