Signed and inscribed on the inside front cover in black felt tip, "For Peter with friendship, Charles M. Schulz," who adds a wonderful full-length sketch of Snoopy seated in grass. In fine condition.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Peter Usher, the son of the original recipient, which reads: "During his long career with the Daily Mail, my father, Shaun Usher, held many senior positions including foreign correspondent, New York bureau chief, TV. critic and film critic. In 1975, he was a feature writer for the newspaper. For many years, Peanuts was also published in the Daily Mail and so, when Charles M. Schulz visited London in the mid-1970s, the Mail arranged for him to be interviewed and the assignment was handed to Shaun. The interview was conducted in a suite at the Hilton Hotel. in London and my father recalls Schulz being charming company. He also remembers Schulz talking about being a machine gunner in the Second World War. At the end of the interview, my dada explained that his 12-year-old son (me) was a huge fan of the cartoon strip and, producing a recent book, asked Schulz if he would autograph it. The great man not only obliged but drew a Snoopy too."
